Scott H. Burton, Ph.D. is a Computer Science Professor at Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he teaches classes in computer science and software engineering. His primary research area is data mining and computational health science—a multi-disciplinary effort to understand and improve health through computational techniques and social network analysis.
Prior to coming to BYU-Idaho, Dr. Burton worked for several years in industry, most recently as a Software Architect at Knowlysis where he led custom development projects in content management and delivery. He has also taught courses in programming and software engineering as an adjunct faculty member at Utah Valley University.
Outside of computer science, Scott loves playing with his 4 children and also enjoys cycling, running, and being outdoors. He has a deep faith in God and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
